Here we are, almost done with the first month of 2017 which gives us a great opportunity to reflect.  I’m sure many of you have set different new years resolutions. From losing weight to doing a better job living life in the moment. One of my resolutions was to read every day.  My book of choice to start the year was Tim Ferris’ Tools of Titans.

It is a unique read in the sense that it is broken up into three sections.

1) Healthy

2) Wealthy

3) Wise

It gives short interview excerpts from “titans” in their respective industries.  They discuss what makes them successful.  What traits, qualities, and routines do you possess and follow that have gotten you to this point in life?  Throughout my reading and analysis of the book, I have found one very common theme.  The power of visualization.  From professional athletes to business moguls, you wouldn’t believe how many people utilize the power of meditation for visualization.

This book has been an extremely enjoyable experience for me to read because I, like them at one point, have goals that many would laugh at.  It is really fun comparing my life story to what they have gone through and picking out the similarities and differences between the two.  Throughout my reading and analysis of the book, I have found one very common theme.  The power of visualization.  From professional athletes to business moguls, you wouldn’t believe how many people utilize the power of meditation for visualization.  I will share one of the top resources used by people at the top of their craft that have paved their way to success.image1

The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is the ability to attract whatever is most conscious in our mind.  The Law of Attraction is a universal force and is categorized in the same section as gravity.  It is an ever-working force whether you are thinking about it consciously or not.  Many people are quick to write off the Law of Attraction.  It sounds like it’s too good to be true, doesn’t it?  How would it be possible to turn something into a reality simply by making it your main focus?

Well, the story of John Assaraf may just make you believe it.  John is very passionate about vision boards.  A vision board is a compilation of photos of things you want in life.  It could be a vacation spot you would like to go to or a fancy car or a dream home.  The story goes that John created a vision board that included just that, fancy cars and a dream home.  At the time he was working a normal job, but things were looking up.

Five years later, after moving into his new home, his son was sitting on top of some boxes that were still waiting to be unpacked.  One of the boxes tipped over and out popped John’s vision board.

When he opened it up, something looked strange.  After doing some more research he found that he was now living in the home that he had put on his vision board 5 years earlier.  The photo on his board was from the back side of the house so he was unaware that it was the same property!  The power of the human mind is truly an amazing thing.

This week I created a vision board of my own, and I really think you should too!  Here’s what you’ll need.

  1. Dreams/Goals
  2. Poster board or canvas
  3. Pins, tape, or glue
  4. magazine images or printed images (I did mine on card stock paper so they wouldn’t be so flimsy)
  5. Scissors
  6. About an hour of timeimage2

After you complete the vision board hang it in a location that you will frequently see it.  I put mine directly above my closet so I’m forced to look at it every day. The key is to have a constant reminder of what you want to achieve.  Life is all about mindset and execution.

Choose to be positive and believe positive things will come your way, take proactive steps to strategically position yourself and you just may end up like John.
